My Story
Hello you curious human!
You must be wondering about who I am… my name is Kavita Luther read on to learn about me.

At a young age it was obvious that society had a plan for me. Being born a woman in an Indian family in London there were.. expectations. So I did what was expected, got a degree in International relations, got a corporate job in Learning & Development, then another, then another… until I made the system and realized I was wasting my life playing a game I wasn't enjoying. The turning point in my career was my time as a Senior Project Manager at the most widely known accommodation booking website in Europe. It was such an amazing opportunity to anyone on the outside and I was surrounded by passionate people. But even then, it still felt so small. I was a tiny cog in a machine that was moving in a direction that I would have such little affect on.
At the same time, while I could see that people were doing their best, it was clear the travel industry was not doing enough for the planet. I'd also spent 3 years at a different travel website who were doing even less. It was clear no one was taking this seriously, not hotels, not leaders, not the sustainability team. We had colleagues in Asia emerging from a pandemic and experiencing the worst natural disasters on record yelling.. DO MORE! WE’RE the ones suffering because of your lack of action (I mean, they didn't say that but I heard it).
So if no one else is going to do it… I WILL. There is NO gold standard right now for what fully a sustainable accommodation has to meet in order to be labeled sustainable. It comes down to 5 key areas that need to be measure against the local area and consistently assessed and validated.

-
Create a circular economy
-
Reducing the plastic we buy to ZERO
-
Water management

Energy efficiency

Localize EVERYTHING
Why? Because honestly why dream small? We are at a tipping point in our history. Facing a climate crisis that is positioned to destroy entire landscapes, livelihoods and ecosystems. If there is anything that I can put effort into influencing it would be showing people that it is possible. To provide a platform to promote new and innovative ways to travel sustainably and maybe we can begin to influence other businesses along the way.
